Hi there! My name is Allie Zingrone, owner and sole operator of Bakery Farina! I am a self taught baker and chef. I’ve had a passion for cooking and baking delicious recipes since I was a child. Nothing makes me happier than cooking or baking for the ones I love.

My love of sourdough blossomed out of tragedy and lead to me taking a leap of faith and passion and starting my own micro-bakery.

My husband and I married in July of 2020 in Scandia, MN. A year into our marriage we were ready to grow our family. We tried for our first baby for two and a half years before seeking the help of fertility specialists in July of 2023. From there we had multiple failed fertility treatments which ultimately lead to us pursuing IVF in the spring of 2024. Before treatment began, I found out I was pregnant naturally (a miracle!). Sadly, I miscarried less than 24 hours after seeing those two pink lines. We pushed on and began IVF, which lead to another pregnancy in July of 2024. We saw his tiny little heartbeat at six and a half weeks and it felt like the giant dark cloud that had been looming over us finally gave way to sunshine. However, just three short weeks later, we went for another ultrasound only to find him an angel. It was the worst heartbreak I had ever felt. To distract myself from the pain, I decided to dive in to one of my passions. Baking. I chose the most time consuming variety; Sourdough. I began from ground zero and created my own sourdough starter from scratch. It was a labor of love and finally, after six weeks, my starter (which I’ve affectionately named Doughlene) came to life.

While we are still navigating infertility and working through the pain of yet another pregnancy loss, I have decided to let go of what I cannot control and focus on what I can. I’ve spent the last few months perfecting my craft and thus Bakery Farina was born. I hope you enjoy these tasty creations as much as I enjoy making them for you!

With love and farina,

Allie
